Just found this great video for princess tea party props you can make yourself for very little costs. The children will surely love it. All you need is a little creativity, imagination and some simple art supplies.
The author of this video purchased her tea sets for $15 at Toys R Us and it included everything she needed (ie. Napkin holder, tea spoon, spoon, forks and knife etc).

Just had my daughter’s birthday last week and we threw her a princess tea party using the ideas on this video. I really enjoyed making these props and my neighbors were so impressed they asked me to make some for their daughter’s birthday party next week!

Rooibos

What kind of tea should you use for your childrens tea set party? Preferably, it should be an organic tea and make sure it is decaffeinated. There is not too much harm for kids to drink small amounts of caffeinated tea, as long as they don’t drink it too regularly. For your first childrens tea set party, why not try a tea that my own kids love.

My tea of choice is Rooibos tea, for it is decaffeinated and it is low in tannins. It has a slightly sweet taste as well. However, kids prefer sweeter teas, so what I do is mix in a little bit of honey into the tea pot while it’s hot. When it has cooled down, I serve up the tea on my childrens tea set.

By the way, you can make great ice-tea using Rooibos as well. Simply brew some tea and let cool, and before refrigeration, mix in some cordial ( peach flavor, or lemon flavor ) that you can buy inexpensively at a supermarket.

Childrens tea set

If you’re looking for a childrens tea set, I’ve got a few recommendations your kids will absolutely love!

There is one absolutely important factor that you have consider before buying a childrens tea set though, and that is..Are they made in China? I’ve recently been to several toy stores looking for a set that would be safe for my kids to play with but to my surprise, I could not find a single one that wasn’t made in China! I’m quite against purchasing toys that are made in the US or Europe now due to the recent lead paint scare.

As a result I didn’t end up buying anything at the local stores as I wasn’t sure what was kid-safe and what wasn’t, and I wasn’t prepared to risk with my children’s health.

So..I made some calls to several toy manufacturers and searched on the internet for some safer toys. Here are a few kids tea sets that I’ve found on the internet that were safe for my children.

#1 The Butterfly Tea Set

Schylling has created this children’s tea set with beautiful butterfly designs on it and it will go well for almost all little girls. The miniature childrens plastic tea set includes everything that’s required for  a pretend childrens tea party. Just note that this is a miniature set and if you’re going to host a real tea party with food and tea, it might be just a bit on the small side.

#2 Adorable Ballerina-Dance Miniature Set

My 4 yr old daughter wants to be a ballerina when she grows up so I got her this set to keep her inspired every time she looks at the cute designs. This Ballerina set is FDA-approved and is one of my favorites. Although it’s a bit on the small side, you can actually serve up real tea with the set pieces. I also found that this cute little set also makes a great birthday gift idea.

Cute Teddy Bear Childrens Tea Set Party

Choosing a childrens tea set is easy. First of all, consider the ages of the children. Then think about their likes or dislikes. Lastly, think about what what you personally find cute.

Toddlers will require a plastic tea set while older kids will be able to use a set made of porcelain. Childrens tea sets these days come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and color with different designs on them. You will easily find one that has your kid’s most loved cartoon characters on the tea cups and plates.

One extremely important factor is to be sure that whatever tea set you purchase is certified  with the materials being food-safe and FDA-approved – especially if your kids will be drinking out of the tea set. These days, the plastic tea sets made in China are a bit dodgy, and I don’t feel safe buying them. If you’re going to buy a childrens tea set online, make sure to buy from only bigger or well known resellers . At least they have a reputation to upkeep and the products they sell will be generally safe. Avoid resellers which  you have not heard of, especially the small ones, as you don’t really know where their toys are produced.

Do your research before buying!

Do you recall your first childrens tea set when you were a kid? If you did have tea parties, I’m sure those would have been unforgettable memories for you. They are for me. Hosting a children’s tea party will enable you to relive those childhood memories. Tea parties have become a weekly activity for my girls and I, and we love it. I’m sure that very soon it will be the same for you and your kids too!

A Childrens Tea Set Party

Great Ideas For A Childrens Tea Party

Ok first of all, you will need guests for the party. Get your kids to hand out invitations to their toys, like the Teddy Bear family, Elmo and also Mr. Penguin. Have your kids draw up the cards, this will allow them to do something creative. Send out as many invitations as possible, the more guests the merrier!

Why not even have a theme to the party? It’ll give the kids to play dress-up as butterflies or  faeries. You could also get butterfly or princess tea sets for children to compliment the party’s theme.

If you don’t already have a childrens tea set, you can use any old porcelain tea set. I bought a set at an antique shop years ago. Despite some missing pieces and the tea cups being faded, it’s pretty and make perfect pieces for a kids tea party.

You could also use paper cups and plates with nice designs on them but it just won’t be as authentic as a real one. If you can get a kid-safe childrens plastic tea set, that will be even better as it’s easy to clean up and you won’t have to worry about your kids breaking anything.

Prepare some paper doilies and napkins to be placed on the serving plates. Also prepare some cupcakes and cookies and place them on a large, colorful plate.

Don’t limit your children’s tea party to just sipping tea and nibbling on snacks. Make it fun for the kids! Get everyone to perform the “ I’m A Little Tea Pot “ song before starting the tea party, that always gets the kids into the mood. While everyone is seated and having their tea, you can then start a tea-time story.

If you’re stuck on ideas for stories, here are a few books that I highly recommend:

Miss Spider’s Tea Party: The Counting Book by David Kirk

The Best Tea Party Ever! by Sonali Fry ( One of my daughter’s favorites )

A Little Book Of Manners: Courtesy & Kindness For Young Ladies by Emilie Barnes

My Very First Tea Party by Michael Sparks ( Another good choice )
